Coast to Coast Ghosts

In the book Coast to coast ghost , by Leslie Rule , i read read chapter three , school spirits . This chapter talks about soem famous school hauntings across the US. in the first story River of death , they claim a school in the town of chickamauga  is haunted . They blame the cause on spirits form a civil war 2 miles away many years ago. I don't think that solider spirtits would really haunt a school . wouldn't they haunt the battle field? Otherwise i believe the spirtit stories in the readings . How lights will turn on when noones there with no explinations and hearing footsteps . Each small story and sample of hauntigns in schools across the untied states gives evidence of true fact , that can scare people . I think people fine them scarey becasue there unexplained . If they were explained people woudln't be as scared because they'd know why .

Taming the Star Runner entry 10.

In the my final reading of Taming the Star Runner , first off Joe is taking back to Travis , or Kens. There , still in a daze, he tells his story. Joe and the Twins started workign for Orsen who had them robbing houses. One day Joe didn't want to do i anymore and the twins said they wouldn't either. Orsen got soo mad that he drove them all up to some mountain were noone was around. They were deffenitly drunk , and high and not in the right state of mind. Orsen shot one of the twins and tryed to get Joe to shoot the other. Instead, Joe ran , hopped on a train , hich-hiked some and finally jumped out of a car on the highway when the driver started getting funny with him. Travis had to tell ken , and they came to conclusion the next day to take him in. One there way home theres a really bad storm, and Ken and Traiv run down and try to help Casey get the horse in. The star Runner escapes and Casey and Travis get in the jeep tryign to catch him adn outrun a tornadoe. The jeep flips in a ditch and Travis goes death for 2 days . After that a few days later , Travis tells that they no nothing about joe yet but Orsen is going to jail for life if not death, he still loves casey but in a different way, hes switching school when they move to town and already has a few friends, and hes starting his second book.

In the ending of the book , it doesn't directly state that the Star Runner died. It implies it a few times , but never really says.
 If i could change the end of the book i would add what is going to happen to Joe. In the book they say there still decideing weither hes juvinille or adult for his punishment but thats it. Its also a little blurry on weither Ken and Tearsa are going to get back together . I would make that more clear. I would also of said what Travis's second book would be about .
 In the end of the book Travis keeps saying over and over again and even lets out to Ken at one point what would of happend if he was there. Travis kept saying he never liked Orsen and coudl have prevented the twins death if he had been there . Not ever wishing he was but wondering. Travis keeps wondering why it wasn't him there . Its kinda of like Ken says in the book , fate , that travis was sent to live with him . If he wasn't then he could have been there with the twins if he made it that long , but might not of becasue Stan would of got to him first.

Taming The Star Runner entry 9.

In this next reading of Taming the Star Runner ( pages 140 -160 ) a few key events happen. First is the big horse show competiton. Casey is hurt but won't admitt it to anyone , at least thats what travis thinks. Casey rides the Star Runner successfully and takes a ribbon . The star Runner is a big and intimidaing horse but she does very well. Following after Travis kisses her and makes her admitt that theres soemthign between them. After that Travis learns that his uncle is going to put the house up for  sale and they will move to town somewhere , where Travis will get to try out a new school . Following that Travis gets his first interview. At first he thought if he messed up they could just film agiain , so when he learns it was live he gets extremely nervous. Concludign to the biggest even so far is Travis recieves an unexpected call from Joe. Joe is at some gas station on the highway hurt and sounds like hes sobbing. He says that he jumped out of the moving car and the twins are dead. Travis shocked and wihtout a car runs to casey and they take her jeep to go pick up Joe. Casey drives asking no questions and they bring Joe back to the houe , Travis lays him on the bed and plans to deal with what his uncle will sya later.

 I thought that somethign was going to go wrong at the horse race with The Star Runner . I thought this becasue one , the Star Runner is always reffered to a large , untamable horse. Along with the fact that Casey appears injured and thigns were for the most part going good .
  I was also surprised when casey admitted that she did like Travis . It seemed that she didn't not like him but didn't have a problem wiht him . she hardly ever called him by his name and wasn't overly friendly towards him.
 My prediction on Joes accident and everything is Travis's uncle isn't gunna take it well . I think that Ken won't want Joe there or anythign to do with him becasue of his condition , not becasue hes travis's friend. THhis might casue a bigger problem if Ken wants to send Travis home .

TAMING THE STAR RUNNER ENTRY 7.

In the 7th reading of Taming the Star Runner , by S.E. Hinton, not a whole lot happend. First off in my read ( pages 120 -140 ) Ken , ad Treasastart to g along better now . Treasa ended up spending the night becasue of her drinking but they seem closer. Also Travis spendds a lot of time at the horse show . It hits him hard whne over he Casey talking to someone and she referes to Travis as a punk.Travis then realizes how he must seem liek a punk to everyone becasue there different from him here. At home he would be considered cool. But the greatest thing that happens is Travis recieves a call from his mom who has agreed to sign the contract without Stans aprovel. All looks good for Travis , except that tomarrow Casey has to ride the Star Runner and hes nervous for her ...
              Majority of this readign took place at the horse show , which was ok , but the ording was a little hard to rd for someone not knowing about horse shows. The terms that were used in the reading were hard to understand to a point.
          Travis is gettign his book published . This is a positive event in the story. Therefore, with Casey having to ride the Star Runner the next day , somethign will go wrong and casue a huge conflict in the story . The Star Runner is a rough and tough horse and even know Casey is experienced , soemthing is still likly to go wrong.

TAMING THE STAR RUNNER entry 6.

 In my 6th reading of Taming the Star Runner , by S.E. Hinton , the main event is Travis meets with the publisher. Travis is excited in getting his book published at the age 0f 16 . He meets with Ms. Carmichael at a airport for lunch to disscuss his book details. Everything goes well with his book and it should be great !Afterwards he helps put around the stables again and talks to Casey who he likes. Then concluding he has a conversation wiht Teresa , his uncle Ken's so to be X wife.
  When going to the airport , Travis is accompanied by by Ken and his young son Christopher. I really related to Travis a lot within these few pages on how hw felt about them beign there. When Ms. Carmichael was meets them and shakes there hands , Christophers first words are " I have to pee ." Which is something that my younger sister would probably do . Following that the author says " Travis wished he could die, quickly and painlessly right then and there , but Ken laughed and they walked down the hall together. " I know exactly how Travis felt because i've been embarassed by my family many of times.

TAMING THE STAR RUNNER entry 5.

       In my fifth reading of Taming the Star Runner , I think I have reached the climax of the book. Leaving off from my previous reading ... coming home in the car Ken wants to yell at Tavis but when Traivs says " Its my life " , Ken realizes how much they are really alike and for the first time Travis cares for his uncle more than just someone thats saving him from going to jail and tells him about his book. Also in the reading , a snake is acting Ken's dog and the cat , so Travis cuts it up with a shovel. He also spends more time with casey and gets a job from her working on the stalls . But the big turning event is when Travis's mom calls and threatens Travis that she won't sign his contract to get his book published ( she has to becasue hes under 18 ) unless Stan reads it first . Stan wants to read it to make sure theres nothing bad about him in it . Travis really shows his hatred towards Stan when he throughs the phone across the room and it almost hits christopher and treasa ( ken's X wife). Then Ken wants Travis to leave because he doesn't want any chance of loosing custody of Christopher, Travis crys and crys and feels liek everyone chooses everyone eles over him .
          
        The more i read this book , the closer i feel with Travis the main character. I think it could maybe be the way he deals with things, in the way of reading. Also i can relate to him in understanding that i don't have the best realationship with my dad as well. Along with the fact that , i have felt as if people choose everyone eles over me in my family which is how Travis feels. 
             I think the book is now getting better with the bigger events increasing . At the end of my reading , Travis almost gets kicked out and sent home by Ken , but then when Travis tells him he didn't see them standign there ( which he didn't) Ken will try to work something out with Treasa so Travis can now stay. I would kind of liked to see Travis sent home for a little while , but then come back before the end of the story. And maybe while hes at home , Ken will realize that he wished he hadn't sent him away . Concluding in the end of the story Travis just ends up living with him and Christopher instead of his mother and Stan .  

TAMING THE STAR RUNNER entry 4.

My most recent reading of Taming the Star Runner , was very eventful. First off Travis wittnesses kasey and small girl that takes riding lessons fall off her hores and brake her leg. Travis also falls in love with one of the girls that runs the stables andd lessons Casey. Casey rides or trys to tame the only horse that noone dares to go near the Star Runner , which travis sees when he runs to tell her good news. Travis's good news is he finds out his book is being published and the editor is flying out to see him in person to discuss details . He is sooo excited he needs to tell soemone but at the time theres noone to tell so he walks to town and sneaks into a club. When somone asks him for his  idea and he can't show one he gets kicked out and beat up. His uncle Ken comes and picks him up , even though Travis is drunk he feels liek himself again for once in a long time when ken is extremely mad at him.
                      I like how in the book the author does a good job of making the main character Travis well rounded. When your given a character that has that bad reputaation and popular and getting drunk a lot , you wouldn't think of him as writing a book, or even having a cat. The only thing is i think the story would be better if there was another character that we new more about. I think though in the next reading i might find out more information about Casey considering shes coming in the book more now . Along with this will probably see how Travis takes his punishments and how his uncle will react to him writing a book that will soon be published.
 One thing about the book though that confuses me is the swich between points of view. The author will sometimes swich points of view every paragraph or so and sometimes i will be half way through a paragraph before realizing its told in the authors point of view instead of Travises.
