TAMING THE STAR RUNNER entry 2.

     In my second reading ( pages 20-40 ) Travis tells of how is life is going at his uncle Ken's ranch. Its not his uncle thats bothering him , infact he forgets hes there a lot of the time , but he has no friends at his new school. Back at his old school hes was the most popular and everyone new his name , here even the teachers all hate him.
    The book started out being told in 3rd. person Limited. The author would go from narrorating the story to telling the story in 1st. person ( through Traviss' point of view.) But now in my second reading , the book is also written in letters from travis to Joe ( one of his best friends from home. ) Even no Joe doesn't write back , this still shows a better understand of Traviss point of view. Threw his letters you know exactly how he feels , as he is talking to a friend. I think this is a great way of showing the story because the author uses a narrorator point of view , Third person point of view ( limited) , and letters.

Taming The Star Runner entry 1.

  I am currently reading " Taming The Star Runner " , by S.E. Hinton. So far the book is about a boy named Travis that is being sent away on a plane to his uncles because of his behavior towards his step father Stan , who he nearly killed. The book opens up with Travis being taken to the airport accomenied by his mother and two best friends Kirk and Joe. He is very nervous not so much about being sent to his Uncles untill next summer ( doesn't give the tiem now ) but by flying on a plane all together.

My opinon on the book so far is good. I really enjoyed readign The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton , and this book seems in ways similar. I love reading books that  take place in the time periods of the 60's , 70's , and 80's. There are hints in this book that hint to the story taking place in one of those decades , like for example packet knives kept in boots and used sometimes in fights that occur a lot . Also the use of tapes and tape players instead of C.D's . So far the book , in my opion has a good begging bacause it states the information needed to know along with it not being overwellming and boring like it is in the begging of some books.
